I knew something was up when I spotted all those sniffer dogs

I went to an interesting conference today. Driving Delivery was designed to help civil servants responsible for delivering PSA targets by exposing them to delivery experts across Whitehall. I'd been looking forward to it because the billed speakers included Sir Andrew Turnbull and Professor Michael Barber, together with unnamed "senior Ministers". I guess I was expecting Paul Boateng.

It turned out that the morning plenary included a speech from the Prime Minister followed by a questions-straight-from-the-floor Q&A, and the afternoon session was wrapped up by a barnstorming defence of the public service ethos from the Chancellor.

I guess they're serious about focusing senior civil servants on PSA delivery.
