Is This a Record?

I spent the weekend sorting out piles of vinyl, into those we have on CD, those we can easily get on CD, those we can get on CD but only by spending stupid amounts of money, and those that have never been released on CD. In the LPs, that last category is tiny (perhaps 40 LPs out of 250, of which we care about 30), but for the singles, there are plenty. I had never realised just how strong my collection is in 'novelty one-hit wonders of the seventies'.

The plan is to give the vinyl to a friend with a more serious clutter problem than us, in return for which he'll mp3 the stuff we can't get and want.

But one of my one-hit wonders is missing! Does anyone have an mp3 of "Zambezi", by the Piranhas? It's a complete earworm and still runs through my brain despite my not having heard it for decades. Update: Thank you, Dr Plokta!

Zambezi! I remember that .. and no, I don't have it on vinyl ... but I did see a bittorrent that claimed to have 100 one hit wonders ... maybe I should download that and see if it is in there?

It's weird, the CDDB (www.gracenote.com) doesn't have Zambesi by The Piranhas *at all* as far as I can see.

Strangely enough they *do* have Piranha Man with his album "Blowing Goats" which appears to have an amazing list of cover tracks ... unless it is someone's personal CD-R collection ...
1. Jump
2. What's New, Pussycat?
3. Love Will Keep Us Together
4. I Got You Babe
5. (You're) Having My Baby
6. My Heart Will Go On
7. Love To Love You Baby
8. That's The Way (I Like It)
9. Cat's In The Cradle
10. Eye Of The Tiger
11. Hello Dolly!
12. Viva Las Vegas
13. Feelings
14. Spanish Eyes
15. She's A Lady
16. My Way
17. Fruitcakes
18. Margaritaville
19. It's Not Unusual
20. Delilah
21. I Will Always Love You

Having just heard the track, I have only one question:

why are you saddened by the prospect of never hearing it again?

Luckily, you are not physically close enough to us to hand of the vinyl to David. He frequently comes home with old LPs. (We still have his reel-to-reel tapes for God's sake!)

listening to the folk prog on R2 on way back from bellydancing, they've just re- released 3 of the Thompsons albums (I want to see the bright lights tonight/pouring down like silver and hokey pokey) so you might be in luck for a re-release.

I faunch after Strawhead on CD but I don't think the albums I want have ever seen the light of day.

Went and emailed them, the cd's I want are the two for special order only, Mum has agreed to get them for my Birthday for me - I will enquire if they have Through Smoke Fire as well.

Thanks Alison

Hi there.
Through Smoke and Fire not available on CD.
Some tracks available from that album on a CD called Late Bottled Vintage.
I have vinyl copies of TSAF for sale if that helps.

FYI - The Piranha Man album is a real album - it's damn scary all the songs are Pakistani karaoke and that's all I've got to say about that.

Piranha Man's album is the best thing I've ever heard.
